The PostdocLab working group ‘Urban Conflicts and Property’ is hosting an expert workshop for researchers from various disciplines. It provides a platform for critical discussion of the working group’s observations, including a) to consider property also ‘from below’ and b) to reflect on the various disciplinary approaches to understanding property relations. The working group aims to identify and discuss concepts that appear suitable for an interdisciplinary (and power-critical) understanding of property. On an empirical level, they would like to engage in an exchange on how conflicts can be identified in this field empirically (e.g., with regard to power imbalances in resource allocation or conflict strategies), as the working group has encountered significant difficulties in their research. The overarching aim is to build a platform for discussing how property issues manifest in urban conditions, negotiations, and conflicts.
