The renowned Nigerian writer and scholar Sule Emmanuel Egya, publishing under the pen-name E. E. Sule, will read from his first novel “Sterile Sky”, for which he received the Commonwealth Book Prize Africa Region in 2013, and from his unpublished poetry collection.

Sule Emmanuel Egya is a writer of fiction and poetry, and a professor of African Literature and Environmental Humanities at Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Nigeria. He is the author of the novels “Sterile Sky” and “Makwala” (winner of the ANA Prose Prize, 2019), and of the poetry collection “What the Sea Told Me” (winner of the ANA Gabriel Okara Prize, 2009). Sule Egya is currently a Senior Fellow at the College for Social Sciences and Humanities. His research interests include literature and environment, African migration writing, knowledge production in Africa, and decolonial discourse. His current research examines environmental imagination in African 20th century literature.
