PostdocLab: College Offers Funding for Collaborating Postdocs

01/10/2025

The College for Social Sciences and Humanities is calling for applications for its PostdocLab programme. It offers funding for cross-university working groups initiated by postdoctoral researchers from the University Alliance Ruhr. Applications are welcome until 26 November 2025.

The PostdocLab supports excellent postdoctoral researchers from the University Alliance Ruhr (UA Ruhr) in establishing cross-university working groups. It addresses scholars working in the social sciences or the humanities who are striving for a long-term career in academia. Participants can expand their experience in planning and carrying out collaborative research projects and develop their academic profiles. Maximiliane Wilkesmann, member of the College’s Scientific Board, explains its purpose: “The innovative model combines cross-university collaboration with career development and fosters a dynamic and supportive environment where postdocs can thrive both academically and professionally within the UA Ruhr.”

Working groups consist of up to three members from at least two UA Ruhr universities and can be discipline-specific or interdisciplinary. The PostdocLab funding enables them to realise various academic activities, such as events, joint publications, surveys, or science communication formats. “By providing resources and international collaboration opportunities, the programme not only enhances career prospects, but also contributes to forming broader research networks”, emphasises Wilkesmann. To this end, working groups should integrate at least one international scholar into their activities.

Researchers from the University Alliance Ruhr with an excellent doctorate in the social sciences or the humanities who wish to form a joint working group are invited to apply by 26 November 2025 for the next funding period starting mid-April 2026.
