Deep Dive into ICCS 2022 – Advanced Data Analysis of Large-Scale Assessment Data in R

28/11/2025, 09:30 - 16:00, Essen

Save to calendar

This workshop offers (early-career) researchers the opportunity to enhance their understanding of the methodological foundations and the analysis of large-scale assessment data (in particular ICCS).

Analysing data provided by large-scale assessments (LSA), i.e., national and international school comparison studies such as PISA, TIMSS, or ICCS, is challenging. The construction of complex samples (students in schools, schools in countries) and the data structure (plausible values instead of point estimators for data from competence tests in LSA) require the use of specific statistical methods that enable to calculate correct estimates and draw valid conclusions about correlations at the level of student, school, and country.

This workshop addresses researchers and early-career scholars who wish to deepen their understanding of the methodological foundations and the analysis of large-scale assessment data (in particular ICCS). It aims to enable participants to further develop the following competencies:

  • Understanding the statistical foundations and assumptions of (international) large-scale assessments such as ICCS 2022
  • Building confidence in working with relevant R packages
  • Conducting modelling with large-scale assessment data while accounting for complex sampling designs
  • Advanced data analyses, such as regression and multilevel models

The language of instruction is flexible (English / German) and will be determined based on the participants.
